Canada's manufacturing sector saw consistent growth at the start of 2022, followed by a decline spurred by supply chain disruptions and rebounding economic activity.

Statistics Canada says there was an average of 1.1 unemployed persons for each job vacancy in the third quarter of 2022.

In the last year alone, these shortages have resulted in economic losses totalling nearly $13 billion, a figure calculated from the responses of 563 manufacturers from across the country.

Upskilling and reskilling of existing employees is also a vital piece of this employment puzzle.
